Microbiology Course

Outcomes:

In this article you I will be discussing about Cells, Cell structure [Prokaryotic Cell Structure].

What is Microbiology?

The study of microbes can be defined as Microbiology.

These Microbes are derived into some types:

1. Bacteria

These are the Unicellular Organisms.

2. Viruses

These have no cells.

3. Fungi

These are either Uni/Multicellular.

4. Parasites

These are either Uni/Multicellular.

CELLS:

Cells can be said as the defining block units for the entire living organism and even the microbes.

Most of characteristics of cells are common with other cells but they are diverse with their cell structures. There are many kinds of cells like a nerve cell, Muscle cell, Hela cells etc…, Cell is the basic functional unit of all living organisms.

All the living cells are defined into two types:

1. Prokaryotes.
2. Eukaryotes.

1. Prokaryotes: These include Bacteria and Achaea.

2. Eukaryotes: These include Fungi, Algae, Protozoan, plant and animal cells.

In this post I am discussing about prokaryotes.

Prokaryotes:

In prokaryotes the cellular wall is found outside the plasma membrane. The function of is to protect and to give strength and shape to the cell. Prokaryotes consist of a cell envelope.

Plasma Membrane [Prokaryotic]:

The plasma membrane of prokaryotes are made up of

· Phospholipids and proteins.

· Protoplast.

Plasma membrane helps in transfer of ions and molecules, respiration, photosynthesis and chromosome segregation.

BACTERIAL ENDOSPORES:
Endospores are which are resistant to heat, pressure, radiations and antibiotics they can survive for many years in the dormant state.

Hello my name is Sidharth.Arcot Mudliar. I am currently pursuing MSC Medical Microbiology. It was always my aim to create a web page about my subject which is always interesting. I always wanted to share some knowledge about my subject(microbiology) online through blogging that is the reason why i have created this blog. I like to share my knowledge and would like to gain some more knowledge in my subject.
